Join us for this two-part workshop designed for absolute beginners!!

Are you ready to learn how to knit? Join us for this two-part workshop designed for the absolute beginner! This hands-on-series will guide you step-by-step through knitting basics that you will need to create beautiful pieces.

PART 1: Knitting Foundations

In this first session, you will learn the basics of knitting. We will start with how to hold your needles and the yarn.  How to choose the correct yarn gage and needle size. 

You will learn: 

  • How to hold your knitting needles and yarn

  • How to cast on your stitches

  • How to knit and purl

  • Why the proper yarn gage and needles size is important

  • What projects can be made from basic knitting and/or purling.

PART 2: Expanding Your First Project

Now that the basics are on your needles, it's time to expand your project into a scarf or neck wrap or plate/mug pad.

In this session, you will build on your skills and learn:

  • Alternating between knitting and purling

  • How to pick up a "lost stitch"

  • How to cast off your project

You will leave the class with your yarn and needles and be able to work on your projects!!

All knitters start by learning how to knit and purl.

It is the basic language to all patterns!

Kelly Lively

is a Vermont-based fiber artist, with a focus on knitting. She has taught many knitting classes to adults and children. She has been knitting since she was a child. She recently has introduced crocheting into her creations. She has incorporated felting with knitting to create hats, pouches, back-packs and purses. Most recently she has been diving into dry needle felting and wet felting.

Kelly brings high energy, creativity and intuition into her projects and it is passed onto those she shares her passion with.
