Community Contra Dance to Celebrate MFU
Saturday, April 18th
6:00 – 9:00PM at River Arts
FREE & Family-Friendly
Join Atlantic Crossing and their folksy tunes with caller Nils Fredland as they lead us through Contra Dancing! No experience necessary. All ages welcome.
A beginner's lesson will be from 6-6:45pm, and the dance begins at 7pm. No partner needed- you will find one organically once the dancing starts!
Contra dancing is a social, community-oriented American folk dance where couples dance in two long parallel lines, progressing up and down the hall to meet new partners. Led by a caller with no experience required, it features live music, simple walking steps, and, for many, is considered an accessible "entryway dance."
Delicious nibbles by Sweet & Savory and Jasper Hill Cheese will be provided. We will also have some non-alcoholic drinks, but we recommend you bring a full water bottle, as you will sweat!
No need to pre-register, just show up with your indoor dancing shoes.
