Mobile Making Workshop with Paul Markowitz

Participants will be introduced to mobile design principles, will learn

the steps in creating a mobile, and will take home a completed mobile by the end of the

workshop. For this workshop, mobile-making materials are painted metal, wire, and sea

glass/rocks. Participants will learn about mobile design options and the basic skills in making

a mobile, including wire bending, metal cutting, and balancing techniques. Participants will

have the option of bringing a design or sketch of a mobile to the workshop and will work with

the artist to translate their vision into a viable mobile. All the materials and tools are

provided.

  • Paul Markowitz

  • Paul Markowitz is an emerging local artist who has been making mobiles for the past 6 years. His works draws heavily from Alexander Calder – the godfather of mobiles. He loves every aspect of making mobiles and loves how mobiles give life to air movement. His work incorporates whimsy and humor with the goal of bringing smiles to viewers.
