For 2nd–7th Graders | Fall 2025 | Hosted at River Arts, Morrisville
This fall, join us for a powerful and creative 12-week afterschool program where students will explore culture, identity, and children's rights through hands-on art projects, mural-making, and a meaningful international exchange.
Each week, kids will learn about a different right—from the right to play and feel safe, to the right to education and family—through projects like collage, mandalas, expressive painting, food-inspired art, and self-portraits.
Students will connect with children at a sister school in Malawi, exchanging artwork and reflections, participating in a collaborative video project where they discuss their countries, their lives and what children's rights means to them, along with presenting their artwork.
The program ends with a community art show and mural unveiling, celebrating young voices and global friendships.
Important Note:
While some topics will explore sensitive themes (such as inequality or fairnessl, war and hunger), no graphic images will be used and all discussions will be developmentally appropriate. Our goal is to help kids understand the world around them—and how their actions matter—through empathy, creativity, and cultural awareness.

TEACHING ARTISTS:
Meagan De Clerck is an acrylic and multimedia artist, educator, and advocate for social justice and multicultural understanding. Deeply inspired by her late father—a painter who was her greatest teacher—Meagan’s artistic journey began in childhood and evolved alongside her global work in refugee resettlement, crisis management, and international relations. She holds an MA in International Policies and Crisis Management from La Sapienza University in Rome and a BA in International Relations from St. Edward’s University in Austin, TX. Her art reflects themes of displacement and resilience, blending themes of spirituality and advocacy. Meagan has lived and worked in Spain, Italy, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Ecuador, and Kenya, and she speaks Spanish, Italian, and French. After four years of living in community in N. California, she and her husband and their four children relocated to Eden VT where they have been for four years. She homeschools her kids, works as a birth doula, and co-directs Patchwork Planet, an arts and advocacy initiative. Through her workshops and mural projects, she uses art to help people explore identity, cultural connection, and human rights, empowering them to become more compassionate global citizens.
Jenn Lindorff, a native Vermonter, is an artist and freelance designer with a deep passion for education, cultural awareness, and community engagement. She earned her BFA in Illustration from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design where she primarily focused on community-based art initiatives and collaborative projects with children in underserved communities around Minneapolis. Upon returning to Vermont with her husband and two children, Jenn expanded her community involvement, most recently co-leading a mural workshop for children in collaboration with Meagan DeClerk through the Johnson Community Workshops. This experience reignited her passion for engaging with the community through meaningful and joyful art projects and led to the founding of Patchwork Planet, an arts and advocacy initiative. For Jenn, merging art with cultural awareness is the culmination of her lifelong passions—an opportunity to create meaningful connections and inspire understanding through creativity.
