A Two-Week Storytelling & Arts Camp

Create stories, design characters, and bring ideas to life through art and writing! During this camp, campers will explore comics and picture books while experimenting with different materials to create illustrations. Kids will also enjoy storytime with their favorite children’s books and take part in fun indoor and outdoor activities inspired by literature—no experience needed, just a love of drawing and stories!

Hola! Mara Criollo-Rivera is a published children’s book illustrator for Dos Two and an arts educator who has taught for over four years in museums, nonprofits, and community arts organizations. She currently serves as a Community Arts Liaison at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Mara holds a B.A. in Digital Media from the University of Rochester, NY, and a post-baccalaureate certificate in Studio Arts from Tufts University’s School of the Museum of Fine Arts. She is also a recipient of the Obama-Chesky Voyager Scholarship for her commitment to supporting diversity in children’s media and literature. She is thrilled to be back at River Arts leading Comics, Books, and Beyond!, where campers will read stories, draw, and create their own comics and picture books together.
