The Elder Arts Artist Books class began with an introduction to Artist books and a lecture by Artist Book historian, Betty Bright at Johnson State College. Each group constructed a basic book and/or chose a book to alter. Themes evolved for the books as we worked and explored a variety of media: collage, watercolor, acrylic glazes, and marbling papers. A field trip to the University of Vermont Special Collection provided a unique opportunity to experience a wide variety of artist books with creative structure, content and form. Our class began in March and will continue on throughout the year as inspiration and time allow.
