River Arts Administrative Assistant

River Arts is a non-profit organization located in Morrisville, VT. with a mission to enrich the community through the arts. Under the general supervision of the Executive Director, this position provides a variety of essential support functions, managing office operations, and assisting with program development and delivery. The job requires excellent communication, multi-tasking, problem solving, interpersonal, and organizational skills; flexibility with changing priorities and demands; and the ability to interact with colleagues and visitors in a professional manner. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greet and engage visitors to the River Arts Center
  • Answer incoming calls
  • Read and reply to incoming e-mail and voice mail
  • Update website, social media and program boards
  • Coordinate distribution of program fliers, postcards and brochures
  • Coordinate and support programming
  • Oversee office administration
  • Order, purchase and maintain office supplies
  • Maintain and update organizational documents, lists and manuals
  • Manage rentals, equipment and facility
  • Support gallery committee for exhibits
  • Maintain schedule of programs,exhibits and events
  • Provide administrative support to the Executive Director, Board of Trustees and auxiliary groups as appropriate
  • Data entry of class registration and payments
  • Manage and ensure accuracy of databases
  • Coordinate and assist with funding efforts, generate follow-up information and thank you letters to donors
  • Attends staff meetings
  • Assist in recruiting, selection and coordination of volunteers
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred
  • Previous work experience in an administrative support position in an office
  • Non-profit experience, working with volunteers and/or marketing experience preferred, but not required
  • Appreciation of the arts; understand and internalize the mission, purpose, values and goals of River Arts
  • Must pass background check

HOURS/SALARY: Monday – Friday, 8:30-4pm with occasional evening or weekend hours for special programming. $12.00/hour. 1 year position subject to renewal.
